GreenDrinks is a social affair hosted by the Triangle Emerging Green Builders. The October GreenDrinks will be at Zely&Ritz 301 Glenwood Ave #100 in Raleigh on Wednesday, October 28th from 6-8PM. Come out and enjoy a cold beverage as you network with members of the sustainability community and hear a short presentation on sustainability through hazard resistant construction by Adam Reeder, an emergency management consultant to FEMA.
Zely&Ritz - www.zelyandritz.com
Zely&Ritz is all about fresh, organic, locally grown dishes. The food is beautifully presented, intensely flavorful and simply delicious. Chef Sarig uses local organic ingredients in unexpected ways to create fantastic culinary works of art. What makes Zely&Ritz so special is that over half of their ingredients come from their own Coon Rock Farm. Zely & Ritz is the only local restaurant that has its own farm delivering fresh produce and meats every day.
Sustainability Through Hazard Resistant Construction
Energy savings, water efficiency, GHG reduction, low impact materials and improved indoor environmental quality are key elements of sustainable design. However, building in areas subject to flooding and high winds may require a different approach to ensure sustainability. Flooding conditions necessitate special site, elevation and materials selections and high winds areas may require additional considerations. More focus on the impacts of climate change has highlighted other issues that need to be addressed in order to ensure that buildings are sustainable. The presentation will focus on a hazard resistant approach to building design and construction as a requirement for green building in hazard prone areas.
