Coon Rock Farm is a sustainable family farm on 55 acres, providing organically grown garden crops and pasture raised, antibiotic and hormone free chicken, eggs, pork, lamb and goat. The farm has been in continuous operation for over 120 years, and was most recently purchased by Richard Holcomb and family in 2004. That same year, Richard opened organic restaurant Zely&Ritz, in partnership with Raleigh restaurateurs Sarig and Nancy Agasi. The farm's second restaurant, Eno Restaurant and Market, is set to open later this year in the LEED-seeking historic renovation Rogers Alley in downtown Durham. In addition to supplying its restaurants, Coon Rock Farm also sells its crops, meat and eggs at markets and through its CSA. Each summer, Coon Rock accepts several interns to live and work on the farm and learn about sustainable growing practices and local food economies.
