Historic Green
As an officially sponsored program of the USGBC and the EGB, Historic Green is eager to engage the assistance of EGB groups from around the country. No other organization is as active in combining the efforts of green building with historic preservation in a disaster ridden area. We have developed a model that we think will prove invaluable to any city or region seeking to reconstruct green after a disaster . . . and now we need your help as EGB Local Leaders to utilize this model in reconstructing New Orleans.
Specifically we seek your assistance in the following key areas:
Volunteer Recruitment: Please help us spread the word about the March Spring Greening by telling your EGB members about this event. Specifically, encourage group members to visit our website, www.historicgreen.org to learn more about the event, view photos of last year's projects and fun times, and register to participate online.
Additionally, we have developed a Volunteer Manual to assist all volunteers in planning their trip to New Orleans.
Posters (HG Poster 1, HG Poster 2) are available for you to print and post as you see fit at group meetings or on university bulletin boards.
Historic Green Planning: We have an amazing Planning Krewe that has been working since last year to organize this year's event. Now, in the final weeks before Spring Greening, we are seeking additional help in many areas including project logistics and volunteer coordination. If you've got time both before and during Spring Greening to assume one of our available Planning Positions, we want you! Please contact info@historicgreen.org to express your interest and qualifications.
Fundraising and Advocacy: Lastly, we would appreciate your assistance in raising funds to fuel our efforts in New Orleans. We have developed a useful and intuitive Fundraising Packet (and support documents A, B, C, D, E) to help interested parties raise monies for our efforts. If you can't join us in New Orleans, this is an especially great way to still be involved with Historic Green.
Again, thank you for allowing us to share information about Historic Green and Spring Greening with you during the Local Leaders call. We are truly humbled by the amount of interest and support we have received here and during Greenbuild last year. Spring Greening 2009 will be a truly fun and rewarding event!! Please help us in spreading the call for volunteers!
We are available to answer any questions you might have. Please contact volunteer@historicgreen.org and we will respond quickly.
SEE YOU IN NEW ORLEANS!
